Age reconsidered as an element of diversity

Picture
I was listening to the manager of the impeachment trial today on CNN. He was a handsome gentleman of colour speaking eloquently to the senate about diversity as unifying force as opposed to one of divisiveness. He mentioned many aspects of this energy called diversity; race, ethnicity, region, religion, gender, sexuality. He did not mention age.
Including age as a part of the richness of our diverse society is looking through a different lens. It is a paradigm shift from the negativity of ageism.

How do you see age contributing to our culture?

Aging is an important connection for any culture. We can resolve our past and learn from others how to avoid undo hardship in the future. As I see myself aging, I am not too proud to listen to the advice of youngsters but also hope to contribute a sense of wholeness in the family where brokenness once estranged us from enjoying all that we are together.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts Wendy. I must apologize for not responding sooner!!! In the past, I would be notified by email if there was a comment...I must rectify that.
I am currently reading a book "Come of Age: The case for Edlerhood in a Time of Trouble" by S. Jenkinson. His quest is to understand why as a culture we have rejected ageing: "I am making the case for elderhood, not for easy agedness. I'm doing so mostly by wondering what happened...Something happened to ancestors and elders and honour. There's work to be done, and there's an old wisdom to be learned where there used to be the wisdom of old, and you can't fix what you don't understand...'
I am so pleased to hear you feel you contribute a "sense of wholeness" to your family.
