2/26/2020 1 Comment February 26th, 2020How we SEE ourselves ageing is a complex mindset that starts in youth. It is influenced by many things. A Chinese proverb says that we naturally see the beauty of youth, but we must learn to see the beauty of age. Historically, artists have been fascinated by ageing. Their role is to observe and render aspects of the lived experience that can then be examined throughout time to make meaning. This interactive talk (30-45 minutes) will explore ageism, the ageing aesthetic and how art (in its many forms) could facilitate new meanings for ageing that would enrich our diversity as does race and religion rather than contribute to yet another unconscious bias that is ageism.
